Tianjin Shimadzu Hydraulic Equipment in Xiqing district has launched a new turbomolecular pump production line — the first overseas core product line of Japan's Shimadzu Corporation.
The project with a total investment of 12 million yuan ($1.77 million) includes a clean room, a balancing room, and supporting test facilities.
Turbomolecular pumps are critical for semiconductor processes like chip etching and thin-film deposition, as well as for coating vacuum plating and photovoltaic cell production.
The rapid completion was due to local collaboration with Shimadzu-related enterprises, use of existing plant facilities to cut costs, and technical cooperation with sister company SPT enabling fast technology transfer and mass production.
Head of Shimadzu Corporation's industrial machinery and fluid equipment divisions said that growing demand in China's high-end manufacturing market presents a significant opportunity. The new line allows customized and competitive products to strengthen the company’s market share.
Tianjin Shimadzu Hydraulic Equipment, traditionally focused on hydraulic pumps and valves, is expanding into semiconductor equipment with support from Xiqing district.
Director of the second manufacturing department of Tianjin Shimadzu Hydraulic Equipment added that Xiqing's strong business environment, efficient services, and abundant talent resources supported the transformation.
The production line launch marks another achievement in Xiqing district's business environment optimization and high-end equipment manufacturing promotion.
Moving forward, the district will continue to support high-quality projects, injecting new momentum into regional high-quality economic development.
