Xiqing district in Tianjin has officially adopted "Cultural City, Martial Spirit — Auspicious Xiqing" as its cultural tourism slogan. The phrase is the winning entry of a six-month nationwide campaign that attracted over 10,000 submissions.
The slogan reflects Xiqing’s distinct regional identity, integrating elements such as Yangliuqing New Year paintings, the Grand Canal, and the martial arts heritage of Huo Yuanjia.
It also draws inspiration from the district's meandering river geography and the traditional ruyi (an auspicious totem) pattern.
Alongside the slogan, Xiqing also revealed the city motto "Land of Culture and Martial Spirit, City of Innovation and Vitality" and the official tourism logo "Auspicious Xiqing".
The logo, centered on a ruyi motif, creatively blends the district's name with the classic drip-tile roof shape of Yangliuqing ancient town's historic architecture.
To bring the new brand to life, Xiqing will launch a grand "Auspicious Year in Yangliuqing" celebration from Dec 31 to March 4.
The 63-day festival in Yangliuqing ancient town will feature immersive experiences, traditional folk performances, a New Year's market, and the 29th Yangliuqing Lantern Show, where over 40 thematic light installations will fuse traditional culture with digital technology.
From finalizing its new cultural identity to activating its holiday economy, Xiqing is weaving its rich historical lineage into a dynamic, modern narrative, inviting visitors to explore its unique blend of culture, nature, and innovation.
