Liqizhuang street in Tianjin's Xiqing district recently organized a winter camp activity, providing young people with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of and learn about the local intangible cultural heritage.

During the event, local primary school pupils visited the time-honored Chinese facility Guifaxiang Shi Ba Jie Mahua Cultural Museum.

They witnessed the entire process of mahua (fried dough twists) production, from selecting raw materials, kneading dough, shaping, frying to packaging, becoming well-acquainted with the exquisite craftsmanship and ingenuity of traditional handicrafts.

Under the guidance of professional masters, the students also tried their hand at making pastries, experiencing the charm of traditional skills.

The purpose of this winter camp activity is to help young people to develop a deeper understanding of and learn about the intangible cultural heritage. Through field visits and hands-on experiences, they could feel the unique charm and profound historical heritage of intangible cultural heritage, thereby strengthening their sense of identity and pride in traditional Chinese culture and establishing their awareness from a young age to protect and inherit traditional culture.
