In 2024, the town of Xinkou in Tianjin's Xiqing district aims to establish a core demonstration planting area for Shawo radishes, further promoting the revitalization of the local agricultural brand.

This year, the core planting area of Shawo radishes Xinkou has reached 6,000 mu. To fully promote the Shawo radish brand in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei market, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of Xiqing District and the Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences have cooperated to promote scientific and technological research on purifying traditional farmhouse varieties of the radish seeds and cultivate well-known hybrid varieties such as the Qixing, Beidou and Tianyi.
The annual output of Shawo radishes is expected to reach 30,000 tons this year.
Training seminars on radish planting have also been given to local farmers to teach them the cultivation techniques for high-quality radishes. The training covered topics such as the selection of greenhouse structures, soil fertilization, water and fertilizer management, pest and disease control and post-harvest quality improvement, providing strong technical support for the revitalization of the Shawo radish brand.
