Kayaking marathon competition kicks off in Tianjin’s Xiqing

The 2024 Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Kayaking Marathon Series (Tianjin) got underway in Zhongbei, a town in Tianjin's Xiqing district on July 29, bringing the kayakers from Beijing, Tianjin, Liaocheng, Jining, Yangzhou, and Hangzhou together to compete in the event.

The competition has multiple categories, such as single kayak and canoe in the men and women's groups.

There was also an intangible cultural heritage exhibition area, showcasing a variety of distinctive Xiqing district cultural and tourism products at the competition sites, such as Yangliuqing New Year's paintings, Rongxi flowers, local crispy pastries and painted porcelain.

In recent years, Xiqing district has attached great importance to the development of sports undertakings, exploring integrated development with "sports +" and insisting on enriching the sports life of the people as an important way to enhance people's well-being. 

More sports-themed events are expected to be launched this year in the region.
