Egrets once bred here in the past, which gives this area the name of "Egrets Garden". However, over the past decade, the wetland has become a lake, and the egrets have gradually disappeared.

In recent years, Xiqing district has continuously improved the water environment and launched the ecological restoration project of Jinmen Lake water system. The project is one of the 20 core projects in Xiqing in 2022.

The government has actively responded to the demands and expectations of the local people and taken steps to remedy water quality and odor problem.

The Xiqing Water Affairs Bureau has taken the lead in carrying out on-site investigations. It coordinated municipal departments to improve the water quality in the region and around Jinmen Lake to make this area become the habitat of migratory birds.
