The national new industrialization demonstration base refers to the leading industrial parks that feature sustainable development and industrial agglomeration. It is home to a group of large and advanced industries with unique characteristics and advantages on industrial upgrading, intergration of informatization and industrialization, technological renovation, independent innovation, the military-civil integration, energy conservation and emission reduction, efficiency and effectiveness, safe production, development of regional branding, full utilization of human resources and construction of public service system.
These nine new industrialization demonstration bases have become the main carriers of Tianjin's competitive pillar industries, strategic emerging industries and major forces that drive the city's industrial upgrading.
In January 2016, the planning division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a list of the seventh batch of new industrialization demonstration bases. Among these bases, the one applied by X iqing Development Zone received approval and was named as Electronic Information Tianjin Xiqing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Xiqing Development Zone has developed three leading industries — electronic information, automobile-related supplies, and biomedicine, as well as two industrial clusters — equipment manufacturing and high-end personal-care products. It attracted a total of 1,903 enterprises from 31 countries and regions from all over the world after years of development. As one of the country's nine electronic information industrial bases, Xiqing Development Zone's electronic information industry has made great achievements. It has formed four industrial clusters — integrated circuits, electronic components, mobile communication, and digital audio, attracting more than 200 famous companies like Samsung, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, and Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. The development zone will make good planning and foster strategic emerging industries, and improve the facilities and services to promote the industrial transformation and upgrading.
Together with the previous eight national new industrialization demonstration bases — Tianjin Electronic and Technological Development Zone's Automobile Industrial Base, Electronic Information Industrial Base, Binhai New Area Petrochemical Industrial Base, Tianjin Airport Economic Zone's Aerospace Industrial Base, Ziya Circular Economic Industrial Zone's Resources Comprehensive Utilization Base, Lin’gang Economic Zone's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Base, Binhai High-Tech Software and Information Service Industrial Base, and Beichen Economic and Technological Development Zone's Equipment Manufacturing Base, Tianjin now has nine national new industrialization demonstration bases.
